What’s crazier than Crazy Domains having a major outage?
Posted in Industry Trends
I’ve just spent the last half an hour reading some of the amusing comments from customers of Crazy Domains (or soon to be ex customers).
Ask yourself a question – does your business rely on a website with maximum uptime?
- If you pay between $2 and $4 per month for web hosting, you probably should expect serious regular downtime.
- If you will lose thousands of dollars of business when your website or email goes down, think about finding a provider who offers a commercial grade hosting package with a fair price attached.
- Take uptime guarantees with a grain of salt. Do some online research and see what other companies/customers are saying about their experiences.
I feel for Crazy Domains. It’s a tough situation and they are going to be under fire for this for a long time. All it’s highlighted to me is that there is a big lack of education in the hosting and web space and that needs to change.
Update: Netregistry voiced a similar opinion

I transferred to a host in the states: InMotion hosting due to that outage. It’s really satisfying now, as (touch wood) the new host is great, and I got to give the CrazyDomains email reminder to renew the hosting (hahaha) a big F-you.
Maybe they should spend more money on hosting than Pamela Anderson ads. Bye Bye Crazydomains.

DON”T WEB HOST WITH CRAZYDOMAINS !!!! THEY ARE CRAZY.
Registered 7 domains with them, which to be honest are fine.
Web Hosting….a different matter !!
As part of the registration, a web hosting package, web host plus was offered at $3.75 a month. Thought that sounded good so went ahead. Domian registration is for 2 years , so assumed that web hosting, coming up at $90 was for 2 years as nothing said otherwise. WRONG !!!!!
$3.75 a month is if you sign up for 10 YEARS !!! other wise $90 A YEAR !!
The package said that Frontpage extensions were included and when setting the site up, sure enough, there was the frontpage extensions tab to click on .
Didn’t tell you that frontpage extensions aren’t catered for.
Tried to email, but no reply for 2 days and then the answer was ” Talk to your hosting Company !!!!”
Rang all departments at Crazydomains and got the standard 10 minute wait until someone answered. Spoke to Joe Baker, who basically said that if I didn’t like the answer, to ” Go to fair trading”.
I asked to talk to his manager and he said his name was John Tango and he will call me back. 2 hours later, I rang him back and was told told that for frontpage extensions to maybe work, I would have to have a windows IIS server and that would cost another $100. I asked for my money back and was told it would be credited to my account but not refunded. Another job for the visa company to deal with and Fair trading.
I have signed with MD hosting . Their Linux economy package cost $59 and all works well .
